GTSM Strain Meter in Japan

 

In 2008, GTSM Technologies deployed 4 strain meters into Japan, south of Tokyo.  The instruments were deployed close to the major cities of Matsusaka, Tokushima, Kochi and Matsuyama.

 

The Japanese installations were performed using a semi automated cable deployment system.  The system was able to grip the cable using opposable tracks with rubber grippers, the tracks then rotated, feeding the cable out at a controllable rate.  The deployment system also included a highly accurate measurement system to monitor installation depth.

 

Deployment processes in Japan were very thorough.  Frequent group meetings ensured everyone knew what was happening at all times, and major procedures were practiced to
